These tables showing adolescent leisure activities are from William John Campbell's 1957 work Hydrotown. From 1952 to 1955 Campbell studied social interaction in Lake Roxburgh village, which he called 'Hydrotown'. This town had been constructed to accommodate workers building the Roxburgh dam on the Clutha River. Campbell was particularly interested in how workers and their families from a wide range of countries interacted, and whether a community was created in what was essentially a transient settlement.
