Threatened species categories

This flow chart shows how the Department of Conservation classifies life forms found in the wild in New Zealand. The categories in bold at the bottom of the chart are those assigned to threatened species in New Zealand. ‘Data-deficient’ species are those where there is not enough information to confidently assign them a category.
