Otago Medical School staff, 1940

Medical student Pat Moorea produced these caricatures of Otago Medical School staff in 1940. In the drawing are (left to right) Professors Bernard Dawson, Eric D'Ath, Gordon Bell, Charles Hercus, John Malcolm, Percy Gowland and Horace Smirk. Hercus, dean of the medical school, was instrumental in promoting research. Smirk was an internationally renowned researcher on hypertension.
