Copyright and the internet

Copyright and the internet

The Copyright (New Technologies) Amendment Act 2008 included a section that required internet service providers (ISPs) to terminate the internet accounts of repeat copyright infringers. The widespread response identified a lack of transparency and fairness in the process along with issues around compliance costs and legal issues for ISPs. The cartoon refers to the ISPs' concern that they were expected to become copyright judge and sheriff.
