The numbers, power and accountability of quangos and other government-appointed bodies were the target of this 2004 cartoon. Senior positions on quangos have traditionally been used as a way to reward those who have been part of or helped the government of the day. Equally traditional are calls for quango 'hunts' or 'shoots', as governments try to roll back state responsibilities and costs.
