This cartoon was published in New Zealand Truth during the election campaign of 1919. It suggested that the Roman Catholic church controlled not only Joseph Ward's Liberal Party but also the Labour Party (represented by Bolshevism). At the time the anti-Catholic Protestant Political Association wielded considerable power.
