Tangaroa and dolphins

This artwork by Adam Williams and Joshua Wātene shows Tangaroa, the god of the sea, in his ocean realm. In an account given by Hūkiki Te Ahukaramū of Ngāti Raukawa, Tangaroa was said to be the husband of Papatūānuku (the earth) until she was seduced by Ranginui (the sky).
