Rāpata Wahawaha by Gottfried Lindauer

Gottfried Lindauer painted this portrait of Rāpata Wahawaha in 1890. Depicted late in his life, Rāpata is wearing the New Zealand Cross he was awarded for participating in the government’s campaign against Te Kooti. Lindauer based the portrait on a photograph.
