Hōne Heke, Te Ruki Kawiti and Hāriata Rongo

This watercolour shows Hōne Heke (centre), his wife Hāriata Rongo (left) and Ngāti Hine chief Te Ruki Kawiti. Heke and Kawiti both signed the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 – Heke on 6 February and Kawiti in May.
