Ball at the Choral Hall, Auckland, 1860s

Ball at the Choral Hall, Auckland, 1860s

Early New Zealand towns were venues for all sorts of social and cultural events. Music was an important source of entertainment and cultural enrichment. They were a way for people to meet friends, make new acquaintances and experience a slice of civilised culture.
