Competitions and Championships

The late Mrs Guy Williams, one of the union's outstanding figures, won the stroke championship seven times and the match-play championship six times. She was an administrator for many years, a life vice-president, and patroness. Her great interest was responsible for much of the early development of the union. Mrs G. W. Hollis (née Olive, Kay) held the stroke-play championship from 1926 to 1935 and again in 1946, 10 times in all. She won the Australian championships in 1933 and 1936, and still holds the course record for the Victoria Course, Melbourne.
