A noticeboard at the Rotoiti Outdoor Education Centre explains the Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project. The project centres on 825 hectares of beech forest in Nelson Lakes National Park. The area is a predator-free ‘mainland island’, where threatened native animals and plants are protected.
