Hōne (John) Taiapa of Ngāti Porou instructs carving apprentices at the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute at Whakarewarewa in 1970. Hōne was, like his brother Pine, a renowned carver. He worked at the institute for a number of years.
