This whakapapa (genealogical chart) shows that Haumia, god of uncultivated food, produced Te Mōnehu (fern spores). From Te Mōnehu came Namu (sandflies), Waeroa (mosquitoes) and Rō (stick insects), as well as Aruhe (fern root).
