The caterpillars of brownheaded leafroller moths (Ctenopseustis obliquana) are major pests of a number of horticultural crops, including apples. They are native to New Zealand and found throughout the country. The caterpillars feed on leaves, fruits and buds, and web the leaves together with silk. This caterpillar has been parasitised by the larvae of a wasp (visible as the green blobs on the caterpillar’s back).
