In recent years NZSL interpreters have been visible in the media during public emergencies and major events such as the Canterbury earthquakes, the March 2019 mosque shootings and the COVID-19 pandemic. However, most of their everyday work is in more private situations such as healthcare, workplaces, social services, etc.
