Ōriwa (Oliver) Haddon of Ngāti Ruanui was a Methodist minister and broadcaster as well as a skilled artist who incorporated Māori motifs within a conventional European style. He is seen at right with his art tutor, Charles Hay-Campbell, and a painting on which they collaborated, showing the arrival of Turi, the navigator of the Aotea waka (canoe), at Pātea.
