A lack of opportunities for women performers spawned the all-female satirical cabaret Hens' teeth – named after the saying 'as rare as hens' teeth' – in 1988.  Members of the Hens' Teeth collective included Jean Betts, Lorae Parry and Carmel McGlone. This is the poster for their December 1988 season at Wellington's Circa Theatre.
