In the 1890s Queens Wharf was the hub of activity for the port of Wellington. The Bond Store there was a holding warehouse for goods that required the payment of customs duty before being released to the importer. Tea imported from Ceylon was prominent amongst these goods. The warehouse building now houses Wellington Museum, where this display recreates a typical scene from the Bond Store of the 1890s.
