The number of New Zealand-born Niueans grew steadily from 1990s before rising sharply in the 2010s. By 2018, they made up nearly 90% of New Zealand’s Niuean population.

Conversely, the number of Niuean-born residents in New Zealand peaked in the early 1990s before declining slowly.
