In the 21st century volleyball was a popular game in New Zealand high schools. Here the Tauranga Girls' College team (in dark blue) battles with Ōtūmoetai College, also from Tauranga, in the final of the 2012 North Island Girls Championships. Ōtūmoetai were victorious.
