Story: Manners and social behaviour

This photograph of the crowd outside the church at the funeral of Nathan Seddon in 1950 shows that the way clothing was worn could be an aspect of manners. The women are all wearing hats, while the men have taken theirs off. Both behaviours signify respect for the place and occasion.
