Mākōtukutuku wharepuni (sleeping house) at Te Papa Tongarewa, New Zealand's national museum, is a reconstruction of a 16th-century design and was built by Ngāti Hinewaka. It is similar to dwellings in Polynesia and the model for subsequent wharepuni.
