New Zealand's first ambassador to Italy, Alister McIntosh, took up his duties in Rome in 1966. This 1970 photo shows him presenting Pope Paul VI (left) with a copy of Tony Murray-Oliver’s book, Captain Cook's artists in the Pacific, on behalf of the New Zealand government.
