Modern marching: leisure marchers

Modern marching: leisure marchers

Seventy-eight marching teams, consisting mainly of women aged over 50, participate in the march past at the annual national leisure marching event at Dunedin in 2012. Leisure marching is non-competitive, instead emphasising participation. Teams enjoy the national event, which is held annually at different venues around the country, as an opportunity to show off their marching skills and smart costumes, and to socialise.
