Opponents of the Vietnam War protest outside Parliament in 1965. Their sign appeals directly to cabinet not to send New Zealand troops to the war. New Zealand was a member of the ANZUS alliance between Australia, New Zealand and the US, and Keith Holyoake's National Party cabinet did in fact decide to send some military personnel to fight alongside Australian and American troops.
