Two children eat a meal outside a UNICEF-supported primary school in Zimbabwe in 2006. Much of New Zealand's aid is given multilaterally – the government gives the money to specific projects run by multilateral aid organisations such as UNICEF. For example, in 2009 the New Zealand aid programme contributed $US1.2 million to a UNICEF-managed education fund that sought to restore Zimbabwe's education system.
