Tainui whakapapa is considered reliable because it has been consistent and so accessible. Of all Iwi, Tainui is probably the most famous and well known. But I don't think anything is being held back today. The information age has opened up the world for everyone and you only have to use those resources made readily available and look. The dark days of information exclusion has gone.

Why is our whakapapa so easy accessed, when every other iwi protect theirs, what is wrong with this picture, i find it offensive that all one needs to do is google Toarangatira whakapapa and this page pops up, no struggle nothing, i bet if Toa was a trust you wouldn't have our whakapapa or access to this page so readily available.
