The 2011 royal wedding of Prince William and commoner Kate Middleton was watched by many New Zealanders, who enjoyed the pageantry and obvious happiness of the royal couple. Pundits wondered whether, like the wedding of William’s parents, Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, it would prompt a spike in the number of marriages.
