Drinking water must be of the highest quality, and New Zealand has plentiful supplies. For example, Christchurch water is naturally filtered through the gravel beds and sand laid down by glaciers and rivers during the formation of the Canterbury Plains. This means that the water comes from the ground clear and ready to drink. Still, there is a steadily growing market in New Zealand for bottled water.
