Story: Sex work

Choosing sex work

Video file

Most sex workers are motivated by the desire to earn money. In this extract from the 1994 documentary A double standard a woman talks about how she began to do sex work. She had moved to the city from a small town, with a small child to support, and met her boyfriend's sister – a sex worker who had plenty of money. Financial rewards combined with personal connections led to her choice of sex work.
