Army chaplains, 1916

Taking a break during the First World War, Catholic military chaplain Father Nicholas Bartholomew Moloney (right), of the Society of Mary, enjoys the sights in Egypt in 1916. On the other camel is the Reverend Burton, an Anglican chaplain. New Zealand Catholics generally served willingly during the First World War, and Father Moloney was one of 14 Catholic chaplains.
