Cooking class for girls

Cooking class for girls

Girls prepare food during a cooking class, in a roomy, well-lit training room at Wanganui Technical College in the mid-1920s. At the time, most post-primary students did general or commercial (which included typing and other clerical training) classes. Courses in domestic, industrial and agricultural skills were single-sex – all girls in the first area, all boys in the other two.
