Waiariki Institute of Technology (now Toi-Ohomai), established as Waiariki Polytechnic in 1977, is the region’s main tertiary education provider, with campuses at Rotorua, Taupō, Tokoroa, Tauranga and Whakatāne. This striking landmark is in the main campus in Rotorua. The institute is particularly strong in forestry education.
