Pillars operated a drop-in centre in Christchurch behind the Addington Remand Prison in the early 1990s. Prisoners' families could have a cup of tea or coffee before or after prison visits. They could also access support from Pillars volunteers and meet with others in similar circumstances. The drop-in centre was one of the many ways in which Pillars attempted to respond to the needs of prisoners' families.
