Story: Ports and harbours

Working on the wharves has often been tough. In this clip from a Weekly Review of 1948, we see wharfies in winter woolies, down in the refrigerated hold, despite the Hawkes Bay summer temperatures outside. Meat and butter were being loaded as aid to Britain, which was still suffering from the shortages of the Second World War.
