Long before the microlight revolution of the 1980s, when tiny aircraft with new lightweight motors were constructed, there was a proud tradition of home-built aircraft in New Zealand. This aircraft was made by Rob Gentry in the Wellington suburb of Mornington in the early 1960s. The plane was built in sections in the living room and basement before being assembled on the front lawn. Family and friends gathered for a photograph before the aircraft was taken to an airfield for finishing and a test flight.
