During her 1894 tour of New Zealand, Leila Adair made a number of spectacular balloon ascents. On 26 May she launched her balloon from the Square in Palmerston North and rose to a height of 915 metres while drifting 4–5 kilometres. After she parachuted into sheep yards at Kairanga, 50 horsemen escorted her back to the Square amid an ovation from the waiting crowd. This montage includes images of her Palmerston North ascent.
