Restoring sand dunes

Residents of Papamoa East in the Bay of Plenty were worried about erosion for decades before this image was taken, in 1997. Local authority Environment Bay of Plenty attempted to restore the dunes by planting sand-binding vegetation in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
