Corrugated iron was widely used as a roofing material in New Zealand until the 1950s. This view over Mt Victoria in Wellington indicates its prevalence in older suburbs. Traditionally, roofs were painted either red or green because these were the only colours available, but it would seem that grey was preferred in the early 2000s.
