Using a Thermette

Video file

A comforting sight in New Zealand campgrounds and at roadsides for nearly a century, the Thermette was designed by Manawatū plumber John Hart in 1929, based on similar products in Ireland and England. It boils water quickly and efficiently using almost any fuel and in all conditions.

The date of 1931 is contradicted elsewhere in Te Ara with a date of 1929. Also they were advertised for sale in 1930.See: http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&d=NZTR19301211.2.124
