Mt Taranaki on the £50 note (2 o 7)

Mt Taranaki on the £50 note

Mt Taranaki was included on the £50 note in New Zealand’s second issue of Reserve Bank notes in 1940. It was the highest-value note, and few people ever saw it – even in the mid-1960s a typical annual salary was only around £1,000. The notes were replaced in 1967 when the country changed to decimal currency. They now sell to collectors for several thousand dollars.
