Green building

Green building

Set up in 2006, the Green Building Council’s purpose is to promote mainstream adoption of sustainable building practices, policies, standards and tools. Part of an international network of green building councils, the New Zealand GBC has set up home and office sustainability rating systems and an education programme for building professionals. This refurbished office block in Queen St, Auckland, won a five-green-star rating from the GBC. The building’s double glazing, low energy consumption, waste recycling areas, rainwater use and proximity to public transport all counted in its favour.
