James Fletcher’s first house (1 o 3)

James Fletcher’s first house

Angus Fletcher (right), grandson of James Fletcher, addresses a crowd from the verandah of the restored Fletcher House in Broad Bay, Dunedin, in March 2009. The event commemorated James Fletcher building the house – his first – 100 years earlier. James Fletcher and his partner Albert Morris made only three shillings and sixpence profit on the job. From this small beginning Fletchers grew into a huge company. Construction was just one of its interests.
