These women were among a group of 28 Tokelauans who came to New Zealand on 28 March 1966 as part of the government’s Tokelau Islands Resettlement Scheme. The men (not pictured) were heading to work at a sawmill in Rotorua or in the army, while the women were employed by Auckland church institutions.
