Politician Jim Anderton stands in front of the house he and his wife, Joan Caulfield, built in Māngere Bridge, Auckland, after they capitalised their family benefit for their first child in 1962. With this lump sum they bought the section and got a 3% mortgage to build the house. Next to Anderton is the second owner of the house, Cau Kam Chang, who had lived there from 1967.
