I am off to Greytown cemetery today, see if there is a headstone or not, if not, will do some fund raising and see if I can do something for James Cox, after all, he was an identity around the district similar to Russian Jack, who now has a headstone! This month, am taking part in Heritage Month, Recreation and sport... cemetery tours.... folk can learn history by joining in my tours! Russian Jack also buried at Greytown.

James Cox, born in Wiltshire, England, came over to New Zealand and was a swagger, but with a difference, he was educated, and kept a diary, which is in the care of Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington, a book has been written about James. After I heard about him, reading the story, and heard he had died in Greytown Hospital and buried at the local cemetery, in an unmarked grave, thought this was sad, gone and forgotten, I have now arranged for him to have a headstone, it's there on the plot, he is remembered. He lived at one time in Carter Men's Home, Moreton Road, Carterton. But when he was taken ill he was taken to Greytown, the next town, to their hospital where sadly he passed away July 1925. When I do a historic cemetery tour, I shall remember to include James each time.
