‘Milk-bar cowboys’ were an urban phenomenon of the 1950s. These young men wore leather jackets and wind-breakers, slicked down their hair, and rode motorcycles. Their favourite meeting spots were milk bars. Their rebellious attitude was feared and criticised by older, more conservative members of the community.
