Story: Domestic violence

Christchurch refuge services, 1996–2011

These graphs show the numbers of women using safe house and community services provided by the Christchurch Women's Refuge between 1996 and 2011. The drop in numbers using safe houses corresponded with a rise in those using community services. These were expanded once the refuge opened a community office, which made it easier to help women while they remained in their own homes.
