Getting ready, Liks, 2002

A performer at Wellington strip club Liks checks her costume before going on stage. Pay in many clubs depends on tips and money earned from private dances (usually done in a small booth). The club may charge a shift fee or get a percentage of performers’ earnings. If the audience don’t tip well, or few private dances are booked, a stripper may earn little or nothing.
